Help us build a new Police Station and Community Center
Despite the size of the small 1,482 square foot existing Tamaqua Police station, our Tamaqua Police Officers do an outstanding job! The department is busy and is respected for the officers' hard work and professionalism. Every day our, police do some of the most dangerous and challenging work in our community. They are there when we need them.
To support our police, the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership, a non-profit charitable organization, plans to build a new, 4,708 square foot police department--that's more than triple the size of the existing station! The project will also include a new Community Center and Social Hall with a catering kitchen for public and private events.
Thanks to the help of State Representative Jerry Knowles, a former Tamaqua police officer and Mayor, we have a commitment of a $2 million state grant for this $4.5 million project. The John E. Morgan Foundation has already provided more than $1,160,000 in matching funds allowing us to demolish vacant, blighted, and dangerous buildings on Mauch Chunk Street to make way for a parking lot for the Tamaqua Police & Community Center.
Will you help support this community project with a donation? Together, we can provide a modern police facility that matches the quality of our officers.
Please make a contribution at a level that matches your ability to give. Your donation will help provide teh best facility possile for those who protect and serve us every day!
